According to the technical team of the National Park Management Department of Galapagos (DPNG), these animals enjoy a good state of health. In this context, a group of scientists traveled a few weeks ago to the islands in order to collect information related to the physical conditions of these endemic species.
The main objective of this project is identifying the migration routes, the nesting seasons, and the convergence sites of the iguanas. On the other hand, the long-term aim is initiating a breeding program in captivity.
One important result of the project was finding three adult pink iguanas that had not been recorded on the past monitoring trips. This fact has caused some expectations among the scientific community who believe that more individuals will be found.
It should be emphasized that The Ministry of the Environment works in conjunction with the Tor Vergata University in Rome, in the manufacture of a tracking device that will be placed on the back of some pink iguanas.
If you want to see the pink iguanas, Golondrina Yacht is a great option to take into account. We offer periodic discounts in some of our packs, even though our prices are very affordable.
